Torrance is described by the South Bay agent as the heart of the region — the largest city in LA's South Bay and, despite being coastal, one of the more affordable among its neighbors, while still keeping top-rated schools that attract families.

Four areas, different prices

The city is divided into west, east, south and north sections. The west side, closest to the beach, is the most valued: average prices in that area run around one million dollars for a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house, and can reach $1.2 million or more depending on the exact location.

Torrance has a beach — and few people know it

Even though many residents of the region don't associate Torrance with the coast, the city has its own stretch of beach, Torrance Beach, between Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes — a spot even frequented by surfers. It's precisely because this coastal stretch is small that the city's average price stays more competitive than that of neighbors fully oriented toward the beach.

Schools and the Brazilian community

Torrance schools have a good reputation in practically every part of the city — a relevant factor because, in the United States, the performance of the local public school tends to directly boost the value of nearby homes. The city also has an established Brazilian presence: restaurants, Brazilian product stores and beauty salons geared toward the community.
